ABOUT THE JOB
The Overall purpose of this role is to deliver a range of housing related works projects within Works Commissioning.
To be responsible for a professional housing surveying service, all technical aspects of the repair, maintenance, improvement and re-servicing of all council owned, managed and leased stock in accordance with Newham Council’s policies and procedures, providing an effective responsive repair and planned maintenance service for the organisation; and to manage a specific specialist team of surveyors and support staff for Works Commissioning.
To work flexibly within the Housing Directorate Management Team as directed by the Works Commissioning Manager and provide an effective and efficient service to the housing service based at Bridge Road Depot, ensuring all functions are carried out to a high level of accuracy.
To provide effective communications and liaison between the Housing Directorate Management Team and relevant Directorates, with the Chief Executive’s office, the Mayor’s Office and other stakeholders, maintaining good relationships.
To be successful in this role you will need:
High-level knowledge of social housing, including the relevant legislation, government policy and community involvement.
Sound knowledge and understanding of Housing Repairs.
Relevant degree and/or professional qualification, or demonstrable work experience.
Extensive, successful experience of working in a social housing environment in a large local authority or equivalent organisation.
